Words just cannot describe this most stunning and personal wedding venue. We were married here in June and had the most perfect wedding day we could ever have hoped or wished for. With having 2 guests with a nut allergy and having Coeliac disease myself, eating out is always a challenge but this was no obstacle for Sue who sourced alternatives and was exceptionally careful in terms of cross contamination. All the food was beautifully presented and so delicious from the canapes on the lawn, the afternoon tea in the tepee, the BBQ, Sues most amazing famous breakfast wraps the next morning and of course Mikes delicious cocktails served from the horse bar! Every small detail had been thought of to make the day beautiful giving the perfect backdrop for our photos, the bridge over the pond, the arch of flowers, the swing hidden away in the weeping willow tree to name just a few. Most of our guests stayed in the pods or the clocktower on the evening and made use of the wood fired hot tubs, while we stayed in Pear Tree cottage with its own private hot tub, it was the most surreal but wonderful feeling relaxing under the stars in this hidden gem nestled away in Escomb village.
Throughout the planning and on the day itself we never once felt our special day was being treated as just another wedding, we were never just another bride and groom in a conveyor belt of weddings. This was down to the outstanding individual attention from two of the loveliest people, Sue and Mike, who went above and beyond all of our expectations to make the most perfect wedding we could have asked for…. we are eternally in your debt.

The Most Perfect Day!
There will never be enough time or words to describe how perfect our big day was at The Gables. (But we will give it a go)
From the first moment we knew The Gables was the perfect place for our big day, we got married in August 2021, lucky for us there had been a cancellation in June 2021 time and were able to snap it up! Every area of The Gables has been thought out to the highest standard, it was breathtaking.
We don’t live in the area and had travelled up the night before, Sue was so accommodating and allowed us to drop our cake and flowers to ensure there were no last minute accidents. She had also been able to recommend our photographer Francis Burns who was amazing!
When we went the evening before the wedding Sue was able to show us an outdoor set up as the weather was nice and I am so glad we did this, we got married outside in England! A shocker to most people but it was beautiful. We had a small wedding and this was more than we could have ever imagined. It was so relaxed, and we enjoyed the day from start to finish.
There were no hiccups, no problems and nothing was too much! Sue and Mike were just the loveliest people who we can’t thank enough!
We had an afternoon tea just after the ceremony which was such a good idea, no one needs to feel stuffed on their wedding day!
The evening followed with a bbq which was just amazing, The food was on another planet.
All of our guest stayed in the pods, it was the best way to end the day, relaxing in their own hot tubs reflecting on a beautiful day.
We stayed in the cottage which was lovely and secluded away from the pods for us to really relax after a long but perfect day!
There were so many personal touches and I can not speak highly enough of this place, I wish we could do it all again, we just loved it so much.

WOW WOW WOW ! Where do I begin, we chose The Gables as our wedding venue and I don't think I could have found anywhere more perfect. From the initial viewing to the day itself Mike & Sue went out of their way to ensure everything went smoothly and was exactly how we wanted it. Nothing was too much trouble, there was no stress and you made us all feel so at ease and relaxed.
it's the small details that really do make The Gables stand out from the crowd, the pride Sue takes in all that she does with the displays, love letters and DIY accessories really does make it so personal. The food was amazing, the gin teapots went down even better than expected, the accommodation was out of this world and the hot tubs, well they really were the icing on the cake.
I can't say thank you enough for all that you have both done and we WILL be visiting again.

What a wonderful venue, a little bit of heaven. We got married here 28th September and everything was just perfect. Sue and Mike are such attentive hosts with nothing too much trouble for them. They are so welcoming, warm and friendly. Pods are immaculate , beds comfy and wow the hot tub an added bonus. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding so beautiful.
